Our health care rights are under attack…

In just two years, the Affordable Care Act has already made a difference for millions of people – and there’s more to come if the law is allowed to work.

Thanks to the law, children cannot be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions, insurance companies can no longer drop people when they get sick, small businesses are receiving tax credits to help afford coverage, and seniors on Medicare are benefiting from free preventive care. In just two more years, states will be implementing their own health care exchanges to provide more options for health care plans.

But despite all of the great benefits of the law, opponents have been working overtime to try and repeal and defund the Affordable Care Act – all so they can score political points with their base.

Their attacks on health care have gotten more and more serious as Medicare and Medicaid have been in the cross-hairs. Opponents have introduced efforts to cut $1.43 trillion from Medicare and Medicaid which would be devastating to seniors, children, and people with disabilities.

Now, with ongoing deficit reduction negotiations, opponents are demanding billions of cuts to Medicaid while protecting ridiculous tax breaks for corporate jets, giveaways to Big Oil, and loopholes that let companies like General Electric pay $0 in federal taxes.

Together, let’s send a strong message: We don’t want the new rights and protections in the Affordable Care Act taken away from us. And we don’t want trillions in cuts to health care for seniors, children, and people with disabilities.
