Representing the working men, women, and families of the Granite State! http://www.nhaflcio.org/

Despite the continued pressure from New Hampshire working families, Speaker O’Brien decided again to delay a vote on HB 474, a right to work for less bill that attacks workers and jeopardizes middle class families.

This is yet another example of Speaker O’Brien’s attempt to silence the voices of Granite Staters and held our democracy hostage in order to push his extreme political agenda. Last month, even though a record number of Representatives turned out to vote for HB 474, Speaker O’Brien refused to hold the vote because he didn’t have the support he needed. He later said that he would hold a vote when he felt the time was right.

These kind of bullying tactics have created anger within his own party. Two Republican Representatives have already resigned in protest against his strong-arm tactics and another Republican Representative has gone so far as to introduce a bill against the intimidation of other legislators.

We need to show Speaker O’Brien that he cannot hold our democracy hostage in order to further an agenda that will hurt New Hampshire families.

Here’s what you can do:

• First, make sure you sign our act.ly Twitter petition by clicking on the “Sign and Tweet” button above.

• E-mail your Speaker O’Brien directly and tell him to give 48 hours notice before the vote on HB 474. Click here

• Send a letter to the editor to your local newspaper and spread the word about O’Brien’s denial of democracy. Click here

• Continue to spread the word. Use Facebook, Twitter and good old-fashioned word of mouth to make sure your friends and neighbors get involved.
