New Zealand’s largest tuna brand Sealord gets its tuna from companies using one of the worst fishing methods – purse seine with fish aggregating devices – a method which catches a wide range of ocean live including endangered sharks, turtles, and juvenile tuna. These creatures are known as ‘bycatch’ and are often thrown back into the ocean injured, dead or dying.
That’s exploitation, not expertise. And there is a better way to fish.
