Hope Phones is a nationwide mobile phone collection campaign that collects old cell phones in the US to provide phones for clinics and healthcare workers in the developing world. According to the Hope Phones website, “Every cell phone given to community health workers connects distant patients to a medical clinic… The average donated phone in the US will allow us to purchase 2-3 cell phones for clinics.” According to Change.org, “Every day, more than 450,000 mobile phones find their way into desk drawers or trash cans around the US.”
Facebook could leverage its platform to help scale the awareness and engagement with the Hope Phones campaign. Google often grants free ad words credit to non-profits. It would be cool if Facebook helped Hope Phones.
