Emma Kwasnica is being harassed by Facebook again for posting photos of her nurslings. This despite Facebook’s recent apology in the public media, saying this is against their policy.
(Note, A FACEBOOK petition has been around for years, with 258,000 supporters. Facebook is due to get rid of it. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2517126532&ref=ts)

UPDATE JAN 15, 2011 1 p.m.
Facebook has apologized for removing breastfeeding photos. Will Emma accept their apology? She has a conference call with a Facebook staffer to discuss their policies. Stay tuned! And tell Facebook to stop harassing #breastfeeding women! Sign the petition!

UPDATE 10 Jan 14, 8:45 a.m.
Facebook has offered an apology to Emma Kwasnica and she has responded with a statement. Link here: http://www.facebook.com/notes/fb-stop-harassing-emma-kwasnica-over-her-breastfeeding-pics/emma-kwasnica-responds-to-facebook-after-receiving-apology/325724474117283
UPDATE NINE, Jan 10, 8 p.m.
The Vancouver Sun is covering Emma’s suspension from Facebook. Even though earlier this week FB apologized for taking down breastfeeding pictures in the UK, and for taking down breastfeeding pictures in the US, and told a US news outlet they welcome Facebook users sharing breastfeeding pictures… Canadian publicist Reena Dadco says the pictures violate their nudity guidelines and “given that Facebook’s policy is no-nudity, it would be best not to post (breastfeeding images).”

Facebook tells their US and UK users they support breastfeeding photos, but they tell Canadian users not to post them. It really is a Facebook war against Canadian breastfeeding activists.

UPDATE Jan 8, 2012
After I set up this petition and put Emma’s photo on my Facebook page, I was suspended from Facebook for 24-hours and asked to remove other photos that “contain nudity or are inappropriately sexual.” The list of photos I was presented with included photos of an event, Target, Welcome to Breastfeeding Friendly Canada, and photos of other gatherings with breastfeeding women. They also presented me with pictures of my grandchildren, and even one of my soon-to-be married daughter in her wedding dress.

I blogged about it here: http://jodinesworld.blogspot.com/2012/01/facebook-harasses-moms-over.html

Emma’s account has been deleted numerous times and she has been in the media over the issue before. You can see a description of one of the incidents on Paul Rapoport’s page, “Hey Facebook, Breastfeeding is not obscene”, where he chronicles pictures submitted by women who have had their accounts or photos removed. http://www.tera.ca/photos6.html (scroll down or search for “Emma Kwasnica”)

Recently WCNC in North Carolina reported the case of Heather Stultz, who received an apology from Facebook via the news station. They told the station in a statement: “We agree that breastfeeding is natural and beautiful and we’re very glad to know that it is important for mothers to share their experience with others on Facebook.”

Emma’s description of what has happened to her this time:

FACEBOOK HAS BLOCKED ME FROM POSTING OR SENDING MESSAGES!!!!
I tried to post this on my page just now, and I cannot! Cannot even send a message!:

Heather Stultz, Stephanie Knapp Muir, Paul Rapoport, Heather Farley, Lynsey K Calvert, Jessica Martin-Weber, Danelle Frisbie – that’s it. I’ve had enough. I’ve just had a beautiful photo of wee Sophie nursing (using my 34-week ChloĆ«-bump as a pillow) deleted, as well as been told off, been told to clean up my remaining photos, been “temporarily blocked” (24 hours) and, as always, received threat that my account will be deleted if my insolence keeps up.
As an aside, whyTF does this ALWAYS happen when I wake up on my Saturday mornings? Friday night trolls, you got nothing better to do than report my photos? Why not make love, not war on your Friday nights like the rest of us, ffs!

The blocking me thing is NEW. I have been blocked from uploading content before, but NEVER from posting out on my freaking page! :( This is censorship in its most ugly form and I am just sick over it."
