On Feb. 29 and Mar. 1, Radio Commentator Rush Limbaugh made hateful, misogynistic attacks on Sandra Fluke, a private citizen that spoke out in support of birth control coverage for all women. He initially referred to Sandra Fluke as a “slut” and a “prostitute” and then inferred that women who demand birth control coverage should provide online videos of their sexual acts and post them on the internet for everyone to watch.
“If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex. We want something for it. We want you post the videos online so we can all watch,” Limbaugh said on his Mar. 1 broadcast.
This is unbelievably offensive to not only Sandra Fluke, who has shown true courage in speaking out about this issue, but to all women. We will not be silenced by this disgusting language meant to shame women on the issue of contraceptive coverage. We demand that you pull all advertising support from the Rush Limbaugh show because of his hateful, sexually suggestive and repulsive commentary on women.
