Rather than let immigrant women be silenced while the House Judiciary Committee debates their version of the Violence Against Women Act, Representatives Zoe Lofgren and Howard Berman proposed an amendment that would have strengthened the bill for women facing abuse. Although their amendment was struck down, we thank them for standing up for ALL women, regardless of race or immigration status, and we ask them to continue fighting for a true VAWA.
