Senator Claire McCaskill recently told a conservative radio host that she wants to weaken the Waxman-Markey climate change bill so that it becomes "very gradual, that is not going to hurt a state like Missouri that is so coal dependent.” Link: http://tr.im/ruJH

She wants to give more rewards to the very coal plants that contribute so heavily to Global Warming.

This is horribly misguided. As the excellent environmental news source Grist.org says, “The bill that passed the House, however, already includes major concessions for the coal industry, including free distribution of the majority of pollution permits, $60 billion for carbon-capture-and-sequestration technology, and the grandfathering of old coal-fired power plants for more than a decade”

Senator McCaskill, you know better than this. Please support the American Climate and Energy Security act as written in the House.
