A: No. By limiting it just to people on Twitter, we can make it super simple for the targeted person to respond. All they have to do is click on the act.ly link in their "mentions", and login with their twitter account. They can respond instantly.

A: TweetCongress. GovTwit is great for finding anyone in government or the media. TweetProgress for liberals/progressives, and #TCOT for conservatives. For everyone else, we recommend WeFollow.

A: You can include a checkbox for people to follow you when they tweet the petition. If you don't see it on your petition page, just click on the edit link and you can add it there. You can also auto-follow anyone who signs. Twitter will automatically send them an email letting them know with the option to follow you back.

A: The petition creator can edit their petition and add any additional information. Links to YouTube and Vimeo will automatically turn into embedded players. If you aren't the petition creator, send the creator a tweet with the info they should add.

A: At the bottom of your act.ly petition, there is an embed code you can use. Put that on your website. It looks similar to the ubiquitous digg buttons.

A: No! You can sign a petition just by tweeting with the act.ly URL and the targeted person's twitter @username. It may take a few minutes to show up on the act.ly site.

A: You can click on any petition and see what the default is, but the only elements required for a person to sign the petition are the target's twitter name (like: @BarackObama) and the act.ly link (like: http://act.ly/b)

A: Yes. Simply enter the target and the text of your pledge and click Create. The next page is the edit screen, where you can change the word "petition" to "pledge" in the tweet.

A: If you see a link that says "tweet", then that means you'll be tweeting. We hate it when sites tweet for you without making it absolutely clear. We will never send a tweet without your explicit permission.

A: If the person includes @yourname as the first user name that isn't the target of the petition, you will get credit. That's why it says "retweet to sign." The idea is people will tweet like this: "RT @yourname: petition @BarackObama to make America great http://act.ly/b retweet to sign"

A: No! When you first create or sign a petition, you will be redirected to Twitter's site to give act.ly permission to tweet for you. This is the proper way to do it. Sites that ask for your password should be avoided, they are likely to be scams.

A: The only information published on act.ly is what you've made available publicly on Twitter. So if you want something removed, you should remove it on Twitter. Follow these steps:

1. Sign out from act.ly.
2. Update your information on Twitter.
3. Sign back in to act.ly, and it will automatically update.
